Week 01 - Major 2 Briefing / Task Arrangement
During the first week, we attended an online briefing for our Major
2 project. Since Major 1 was a group assignment, we are continuing
to work with our original team members for this next phase. The
session primarily outlined the project requirements, which serve as
a direct expansion of the work we completed during Major 1.
Week 02-04 - Task Progress
Work Progress Track File
Following extensive research into various API integration models, we have determined that an affiliate partnership is the most strategic fit for our application. Unlike a standard technical integration, this model allows us to leverage established commercial networks, creating a more sustainable revenue stream while providing our users with direct access to high-quality third-party services.
I was tasked with a comprehensive overhaul of the
onboarding flow. My redesign includes a high-impact
logo animation at launch, followed by a frictionless
login process that now exclusively uses Google and
Apple accounts for streamlined account creation. I
also integrated biometric authentication (Face ID)
with custom animations for enhanced security and
branding. Finally, to ensure the app delivers a truly
tailored experience, I implemented a preference-based
questionnaire before users enter the main interface,
aligning the initial setup with our core service
goals.

This section demonstrates the
design evolution
of our app logo, micro interactions leading to the
final iteration
and its visual execution.
We also conducted a
brand color audit
to ensure our palette was optimized for visual consistency. We
selected
orange
as our primary accent color because it conveys high energy and
vitality, perfectly capturing the
adventurous spirit
of a travel-themed application.
Week 05 - Prototype Linking and Scenario Script Design
Upon completing the high-fidelity
prototype, I transitioned to the
Art Direction
phase, which included designing
App Store mockups
and
social media promotional posters. I utilized
Adobe Illustrator
as the primary tool for all visual assets. Beyond
the graphic design, I was also responsible for
conceptualizing the
app's taglines
and marketing copy to ensure a cohesive brand voice
across the App Store.
Week 06 - User Testing
We also conducted user testing for our app. Each
group member was assigned to interview one user. I
chose to interview a friend who frequently travels
and recorded the session. Each of us conducted the user testing using different methods,
including face-to-face interviews, online interviews, and interviews
with lecturers.

REFLECTION
Developing
Travel Kaki
over the past seven weeks has been a profound
learning journey in
User-Centered Design (UCD). What began as a broad concept was refined
through rigorous research into a focused solution
for trip planning and social discovery. We
identified critical
user pain points, particularly for solo travelers struggling with
logistics and social isolation. This led to the
integration of our core features: the
AI Trip Planner,
Live Map, and
Connect
tool. While the initial prototyping phase
prioritized a clean aesthetic,
usability testing
revealed friction points in navigation and icon
clarity. These insights were invaluable, teaching
me that aesthetic appeal cannot compensate for
functional ambiguity. This project has solidified
my commitment to
iterative design, proving that a truly successful product is
built on a cycle of testing, receiving feedback,
and constant refinement.
